Wednesday September 30, 2026 4:00pm - 6:00pm PDT
Disappearing West Oakland - Cityscapes of Change
Wednesday Sept 30th | 4 PM - 6 PM
7th West, Oakland, CA

This session will tour the landscape of West Oakland in photo images made from a variety of documentary concerns and artistic sensibility. Attendees will be taken through key ideas about the convergence of art and documentary in photography, demonstrated by coverage of the famous and distressed West Oakland neighborhood during the 2020's. The session will be a guided running dialogue with the audience, hosted by photographer and art critic Malcolm Ryder of the NEA, Oakland Art Murmur, and East Bay Photo Collective.
