About me
My work draws inspiration from the ukiyo-e style of Japanese painting, reimagining
overlooked stories and lost voices. A central figure in my practice is Yasuke, the Black
samurai whose history has often been erased. Through my paintings, I envision Yasuke
confronting symbols of racism and oppression — from the KKK and corrupt politicians to the
devil himself. My work blends historical imagination with social commentary, using bold
imagery to spark reflection and dialogue.
