About me
Jeanna Penn is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Oakland. She has been creating art for over twenty-fi ve years in various forms including mixed media collage, murals, photography,zines, soft sculpture, and documentary fi lm. Much of Jeanna’s work is centered around recontextualizing the Black experience throughout the Diaspora with found imagery and mixed media as well as documenting personal and material histories.
Jeanna’s work has been shown at The Barret Art Center (NY); Eyelevel Centre (Nova Scotia); Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery (CA); The Delaplaine Art Center (MD); Yale Divinity School (CT) and 516 Arts (NM); The Henry Sheldon Museum (VT); The Kolaj Institute (LA); and The DeYoung Museum (CA). Her work is in the permanent
