Sunday October 4, 2026 12:45pm - 3:45pm PDT

The Monroe Arts & Culture Center seeks support to preserve the legacy of the late Arthur Monroe (1935–2019) — a pioneering jazz-inspired abstract expressionist painter and a central figure in Oakland’s cultural and artistic renaissance.

The Monroe Arts & Cultural Center will serve as a living museum, artist maker space, and cultural hub celebrating the intersection of visual art, jazz, activism, and African American heritage. It will be a cultural anchor in the community: a permanent home for exhibitions, education, and artistic and community collaboration — protecting the artistic lineage that has shaped the identity of Oakland and the Bay Area for generations.
