Join us for our annual San Francisco/ Bay Area Black Art week from Wednesday September 30th - Sunday October 4th, 2026!
Thursday October 1, 2026 11:00am - 6:00pm PDT
During Nexus Black Art Week we will be presenting 'Unfinished Lines', a captivating group exhibition, celebrating 4 exceptional Pan African Contemporary talents: Papytsho Mafolo, Pascal Konan, Hussein Salim and Aza Mansongi at AOCA - Art of Contemporary Africa, the first African Contemporary Gallery in San Francisco and one of few in the U.S.

Four artists, then, whose lines have all been interrupted and rerouted: from Kinshasa by way of Brussels, from Khartoum by way of KwaZulu-Natal, from Abidjan by way of Abidjan, from Kinshasa by way of Douala. None of these journeys resolves. Each of these practices depends on that--which is why the exhibition belongs in this particular week.

Nexus exists to build a bridge, and a bridge requires something on both banks. Unfinished Lines is the continent’s side of the conversation, offered to the Bay Area not as a statement but as an invitation — four painters holding the line open, waiting to see what San Francisco does with it.

We will be hosting exhibition walkabouts on Wednesday 30 September, Thursday 1 October, Friday 2 October, Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October from 12 to 1pm. Light refreshments to be served.
