About me
Celia C. Peters is a fi lmmaker + visual artist known for bold, futurist storytelling and intriguing, authentic characters. As a 2024-2025 Betti Ono Foundation Artist-in-Residence, Peters produced THE NEXT 15 MINUTES, an immersive dramatic reading of sci-fi work by diverse screenwriters. Her artwork is currently in the WOMEN OF AFROFUTURISM exhibit at SFO Airport Museum through November 2026. Peters also curated SFO Airport Museum’s 2024 Black History Month fi lm program. She is currently developing her sci-fi thriller GODSPEED with veteran industry partners. In 2021-2, she directed the historical documentary SHUTDOWN for The Ohio State University. In 2022, Peters launched her sci-fi audio drama DOMESTICATED and curated fi lm programs for the San Francisco Urban Film Festival and Oakland Museum of California. Her curation of the 2021 Blackness Revisualized afrofuturist fi lm festival for WNET/AllArts.org was a powerful refl ection of her desire to create impact. An award-winning screenwriter, Peters also teaches fi lmmaking and screenwriting, and advises on Sundance Collab screenwriting courses. She currently serves on the Oakland Art Murmur Board of Directors. Peters brings a very special sauce to her unique, ever-evolving brand of visual storytelling. The future is bright.
