About me
Yusuf Dubois Abdul Lateef, a Toledo-based visual artist and educator, co-founded Radiant City Arts and the Toledo Black Artist Coalition. With a Master’s in 2D studies and social engagement, he explores art’s spiritual and communal dimensions, using it for healing and connection. His work, described as "soul speak," includes painting, performance, and found objects. Over the past decade, Lateef has developed arts programs for juvenile detention centers and public spaces, focusing on trauma processing, problem-solving, and art as prayer, blending creativity, education, and community empowerment.
Lateef has participated in several collaborative projects in communities in Ohio, Michigan, Charlottesville VA, NewPort News, Va, Puebla, Mexico, and Bilbao and Toledo, Spain. Lateef is currently an adjunct instructor at Bowling Green State University School of Art. His focus is on 4D art and developing experiential learning programs.
